UPDATED #14

Personal

1 - Q: What does your DA name mean?

A: Well, Airu is silver reflective so that is where the silver part came from, and poot is my replacement curse word (yes I know it means fart to the rest of you). I was going to choose Airu or Sosumi, but I believe both were taken by dead accounts, and I was so angry that I typed in Silverpoot in spite of it all. Go figure that that was the thing that was free.

2 - Q: How do you pronounce "Airu"?

A: Unlike all the other names I come up with, Airu is actually not pronounced with a Japanese influence. It is just like the word 'air' with a double 'oo' at the end. So like a howl, AirOOO! XD Least that is how people get my attention. Inspired mainly because the type of dragon she is howl like wolves do.

3 - Q: What programs do you use?

A: Open Canvas 3 when it isn't 'bad error'ing, Photoshop CS (all the versions of PS are the same to someone who knows how to use it...), and Painter 9 (OMG I LOVE YOU)

4 - Q: What traditional materials do you use?

A: I love love love pens. I hate pencils because they smear. I use a Pentel R.S.V.P. fine for most of my drawings. I sketch with it and ink with it... I love those pens. They are just normal ball point pens you can find in any Longs Drugs. I ink with Microns, sometimes. I color with Prismacolor markers and watercolor.
It doesn't much matter the technicalities of these supplies... you can draw just as good with any tool if you are good enough, so it doesn't matter. I use a lot of really hokey cheap supplies (Prismacolors excluded) and my art still turns out looking pretty presentable. Just remember that it isn't the supplies that make you good, it's you.

5 - Q: How long have you been drawing?

A: I have been drawing ever since I can remember. I only started getting competetive and working on improving my style and technique when I was 12/13.

6 - Q: What is your process?

A: I always start out with a light sketch (pencil or ballpoint pen). Only rarely do I just draw something flat out of nothing, and if I do it has all sorts of mistakes. Then I go and I darken in the details and supporting lines. From there I color it, base colors first, then shades, then highlights. Uhhh very vague, but... you know.

7 - Q: Do you have any female characters?

A: Yes, about seven or so. XD Nothing to compair to my seventy some odd male characters. My excuse? I dunno... when I draw girls they always look masculine and ugly, so I avoid it.

8 - Q: Do you draw yiff/fetish images?

A: I have in the past, and I still do very rarely. I do not accept commissions or trades of such nature, however. I don't share those types of images with the public and if I happen to, they are to very select few very close friends. I will never sell them or offer to draw them for anyone because I don't admire that part of the fandom and I don't want to support it.

Community

9 - Q: Would you draw for my game/comic/story?

A: Contrary to popular belief, artists are not tools on a shelf you can just pluck off and use for your little projects or whatnot for nothing. I have had a very rude experiance with people asking me to draw for their personal ideas and I do not accept offers very kindly anymore.
First off, I won't accept unless you are a professional or a business, I think not. And I don't care how much you PLAN to be, you MUST be.
Second, I don't do anything for free unless you are a good friend of mine. Tough love. Don't ask me unless you want to cough up something in exchange for my time.

10 - Q: There is a contest I am holding, please join?

A: Basically... don't ask me. If there is a contest out there that I am interested in, I will join it. When you ask me a question like that it really puts me on the spot and any answer I give will make me sound like a jerk. I don't have time to enter contests anymore, and if I wanted to, I would have joined on my own. The only thing that makes me mad about that is having to tell people no to their faces... so please don't ask me. I don't feel comfortable turning you down when I don't even know you very well.
Unless you are a close friend and you know I hold a special interest in whatever the subject is, don't bother.

11 - Q: Someone I know is sad/sick/etc, I would like you and these other artists to draw pictures for her/him, plz?

A: That is very unfortunate and I usually wish them well anyway. But I hardly have time to finish pictures that other people are paying me for, let alone draw a cheer up picture for someone I don't even know. Bottom line, do not ask me for these kind of favors unless you are a good friend of mine, or I know the person it is being done for. I usually try to do that kind of stuff for people I know... so if that is the case, then yes let me know.

12 - Q: Can I watch you?

A: 80 YES, YES YOU CAN! I dont understand why people ask that XD Is there someone out there that just... reams people for watching them without permission? I would LOVE for you to watch me, I have no qualm with that at all. :3

13 - Q: Can I print out your work/use it as a desktop?

A: Of course! You can print anything of mine out and use it for your walls, binders, lockers, desktop whatever. I am rather flattered that my work is being displayed like that, so please do if you like it. :P I mean, just as long as you aren't selling it or claiming it as yours I dont mind at all.

14 - Q: Can I alter one of your images and make it an icon/wallpaper/layout/etc and use it/upload it as my own artwork (I did alter it, so it is different)?

A: I would rather just flat out say 'NO, absolutely not. If you want my artwork customized to the way you want it, then you can commission me and have me draw it for you instead of altering it yourself.' But in the rare situation that this must be done, things that are done for your personal use on the internet must be run by me first. It's not as bad as stealing a character or something, but I still feel run under when people take my stuff behind my back and turn them into icons and wallpapers without me knowing.
Basically, if you plan to alter or change the image in ANY way, you MUST ask my permission before doing so and sharing it with anyone/uploading it. The only way I will allow anything like this is if you are using it in the original way it was created, not turning it into an icon or something, and crediting back to me, but you still must ask me first otherwise I will probably ask you to take it down. The only exception is my DA icon. No one is allowed to use that but me.
ALSO, it is strictly immature and malicious to take something from me without asking and then sign your name to it without even so much as a glance of a credit in my direction. That is low and cowardly of someone to do, and I hope no one sinks to that level anymore.
Basically, ask before you use it. If I find you using it without asking me first, like I said, I will ask you to take it down. If you like my art, respect me... I created it. Try and think about it on the flipside, how would you feel if someone did that to you?
Clear? Hope so.

15 - Q: Can I draw one of your characters that I really like?

A: Once again, I don't understand why people ask that either. XD I love getting fan art, please do draw my characters! Only thing I ask is:
Please make sure you credit back to me, even if it is mentioning my name.
PLEASE show me when you are done. :O I get all sad when I browse around and find fan art people have drawn for me and I never even knew about it. How much more are out there that I have never seen? 80 I wanna see! *runs in circles*

16 - Q: Do you play any online games?

A: Yes ah do! Currently, only Gaia and Flyff. Both of which I just run around and insult people/steal stuff/be a general ass-h0le to other players. Why? Because I am a cold biznatch, that is why. So, I cannot disclose my names on such places. XD But watch out... the next time you come across some bad typeing n00b that you can barely stand, it could be one of them popular artistz types on DA. HA HA HA!

17 - Q: Can I use a character you drew as an example for a character I role play or use for this or this? (basically using my artwork as an example or subject other than for what it was drawn)

A: This is a sister question to number 14. The answer for it is a little different tho, so read carefully.
The answer is NO. No you may not. My reason is pretty simple: most of my artwork is A) Artwork of my characters or B) Artwork for other people of their characters. Meaning, they already have stories and personalities made up for them, and when you use them as examples for your role playing or whatever it changes that and that is wrong to me. Make up your own characters and use them to role play, not ours. Don't be a leech, no one appreciates that.
If you cannot draw and thus cannot make a picture for your role play, then by all means, commission an artist to draw it for you for you to use as much as you want. That is why we accept commissions, and protect our own characters so ravenously. There is no excuse to take characters we have already made for your RP needs, so please don't do it.

That is it for now, I might add more later :E

Okay, I have a question.

Whats with the 'nipples'? :O
:iconsilverpoot:
XD The nipples? That was just something random that I made and decided to post here. They are actually Gackt's nipples... and people fell in love with them so I let them stay :P

Oooh! I have 2 questions!

What's your artistic history? (when you started drawing, what you drew, if you went to school or took classes)

How did you come up with Airu? (Especially the color scheme and the spiffeh design characteristics...like is there some sort of symbolism in the colors/features?)
